The lack of sun so far this summer (particularly in Melbourne) has no doubt had a negative effect on my mood, and I’m sure others are feeling the same way . It seems as though the usual Christmas and holiday season paraphernalia just doesn’t seem to have the same happy childhood-memory-inducing-effect, without the balmy 30+ degree backdrop. So it’s nice in this bizarre displaced winter to see shades of not blue coming from the overseas fashion community. Linda Farrow’s collaboration with House of Holland, Marni & Alexander Herchcovitch’s SS10 offerings are just some examples of designers that choose to look on the brighter side and create sunnies that undermine the ethos of the black wayfarer junta: Eyewear for people that want to stand out, not fit in. So maybe our weather will get better soon, or maybe the season of summer will just pass us by without any significant temperature changes, either way at least myself & others will look good whilst protecting themselves from the sun whether it decides to come out or not.
