Spent the rainy weekend doing writing jobs, and watching doco's... it was lovely. First up was Crystal Voyager, a mellow 70's surf film that follows hippy/recluse George Greenough through California on his search for uncrowded waves... featuring the sounds of Pink Floyd. Nice. Then I re-visited a more contemporary documentary, Stoked: The Rise and Fall of Gator, which charts Mark 'Gator' Rogowski's skateboarding success and demise. In the 1980's Gator was a champion vert skater and the face of Vision streetwear during it's peak, Gator crumbled when his currency in the youth market plummeted, and went on to rape and murder a girl he hardly knew. Finally, The Universe of Keith Haring, showcases the life and work of the prolific artist who was down with everything and everyone that was cool in New York in the 80's... All worth watching if you can find!!
